Why Join a Church Plant Launch Team?

As our church plant shifts into regular Launch Team meetings, some people are thinking, "Ah, that's not for me! I might join when things are established." 

If you're thinking that, I really urge you to pray about being a part of the Launch Team. The Lord is doing some special things, and I don't want you to miss out! I could list lots of reasons, but here are three reasons why participating on a Church Plant Launch Team is an incredible opportunity.

1. You will grow.

Do you feel stagnant in your walk with the Lord? Are you growing as a disciple of Jesus? Seriously, take inventory! Helping plant a church can be like an "instapot" for discipleship. It will likely be a season of accelerated and significant growth in your life as a follower of Jesus. 

2. You get to be a part of doing something significant.

A church plant is the most effective means for church revitalization and renewal in an area (more on that here). In a time when more and more people are questioning faith and leaving the church, church planting is as vital as ever. Not only would this be your doing something significant for a season like this one, but planting a church is establishing an outpost of the kingdom of God that will (Lord-willing) bear fruit for generations to come. 

3. If you have children, this is a once-in-their-childhood opportunity for unique growth.

One of the most common reasons parents choose not to participate on a Church Plant Launch Team is because of their kids. They're busy... this doesn't look like your average American highly programmatic children's ministry... they misperceive this as being something mostly for grown-ups. But you know the data... More than 60% of children leave the Church when they leave home. It's clear that our current ways of raising children to follow Jesus aren't working. Helping plant a church is a unique and special opportunity for a child to experience being the church in a way that they may never otherwise experience. Parents, this could be life-changing for your kids!
