Church Planting Process
You may be curious… what’s the church planting process? What’s the timeline? Good questions!
Our process is guided by benchmarks. While we’re excited to launch weekly worship services, it’s vital to keep in mind that we’re planting a church, not just a worship service. Anglican worship services are reverent and beautiful, and while that’s an essential and important part of the church, we pray that Church of the Incarnation will be much more than beautiful Anglican worship services.
With that in mind, the timeline below includes projected dates and times, but benchmarks ultimately move us through the process, helping us gauge where we are and plant a healthy church with a strong foundation.
1. Generate Awareness & Interest
(Beginning January 2023)
During this phase, our goal is for everyone everywhere to hear about this church plant (awareness) and for God to stir in the right people a desire to be involved (interest).
2. Grow & Develop Launch Team
(August 2023 - Spring 2024)
During this phase, we’ll begin meeting regularly with a Launch Team, a team of people committed to planting Church of the Incarnation together. We’ll grow together through prayer, Bible study, and discipleship (like learning and living together in ancient Church rhythms). We’ll serve our neighbors and city together. We’ll host regular high-invitation events to build new friendships. Our values of worship, formation, and mission will be present throughout the Launch Team phase to build a strong and healthy foundation for the church.
3. Host Preview Worship Services
(Winter / Spring 2024)
As the Launch Team grows to 30-45 committed members, we’ll begin hosting Preview Worship services with a goal of honoring God with reverent worship, but also inviting friends and neighbors to come and see what our worship services will feel like. During this phase the Launch Team will also likely multiply into small groups to continue to cultivate deep community.
4. Launch Weekly Worship Services
(Likely Spring or Fall 2024)
As the Launch Team grows to 60-75 committed members, we’ll move towards launching weekly worship services. At this point. our values of worship, formation, and mission are all expressed in weekly Anglican worship services and also robust small groups growing as disciples and serving our neighborhoods together.
